During my time with him as my outfitter, Valeriano proved himself to have outstanding outfitter and hunter skills. He was able to successfully organize the whole trip for me as a hunter and my two sons as observers. Gredos Ibex

Male’s horns are big, wrinkled and ringed, they rise vertically and lean out and back in a lyre form with the top inwards.

Male’s horns are big, wrinkled and ringed, rise vertically and lean out in a very open way; they have plane form with the tips up.

East Spanish mountains (Puertos de Tortosa-Beceite Natural Park and Maestrazgo) near the sea, where the weather is very mild, although this does not prevent from forming of a rough and rugged landscape where the hunter can fully enjoy the hunt in his pure state.

Ronda Ibex

 Ronda male’s horns are shorter, grow straight and their end have a sheep form.

South East Ibex

South East Ibex CHARACTERISTICS

Sierra Nevada male’s horns grow long and follow an extraordinary backward curve that reminds a sheep form.

South Spanish mountains. The Sierra Nevada (South East) Ibex is hunted in the mountains of Sierra Nevada National Park, in Sierra de Lujar, Sierra de Huetor, Santillan, and Sierra Arana, in Andalucia province.

Balear Goat 

Balear Goat CHARACTERISTICS

 Balear goat also known as Mallorca’s wild goat is internationally recognized as a homologated hunting trophy by the International Safari Club and the local Balearic Government : GOVERN DE LES ILLES BALEARS. Its coat is short and bright, brown-reddish with black stripes on the rear of the body and black legs.
Both sexes have horns, but only the horns of the males grow spirally being long and thick.  Horns of the females are parallel and curved.  Only males show a long black beard.  Females with young and males live in separate groups and males approach the female group only during the mating season.

 PYRENEAN CHAMOIS

PYRENEAN CHAMOIS CHARACTERISTICS

 PYRENEAN CHAMOIS, ISARD (RUPICAPRA PYRENAICA PYRENAICA). Takes the name from the spectacular Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain and boasts a considerable population.  Their horns, of the shape of a hook, constitute an attractive trophy, being one of the most elusive mountains animals.

CANTABRIAN  CHAMOIS

Cantabrian Chamois CHARACTERISTICS

 CANTABRIAN CHAMOIS, REBECO (RUPICAPRA PYRENAICA PARVA). 

 Its habitat is the Cantabrian Mountain Rage in the North of Spain.  This chamois bears many similarities with its cousin, the Pyrenean chamois, but it is slightly smaller, with morphological differences that are difficult to distinguish at first glance.

We have an exclusive hunting area over 25,000 ha. in the Province of Leon

Mouflon Sheep 

MOUFLON SHEEP CHARACTERISTICS

The Mounflon sheep was introduced in Spain form the Island of Corsica at the end of the 19th century.  This animal has outstanding eyesight, making its hunting very exciting.  The Mouflon likes to live in heads, usually lead by a big ram.  Magnificent Mouflon trophies, capable to make dreams come true of many sheep hunters, can be taken in Spain.

BARBARY SHEEP

BARBARY SHEEP CHARACTERISTICS

 The Barbary sheep, also known as Aoudad or Arrui, is a horned sheep native from North Africa.  His coat is sandy-brown, darkening with age, with a slightly lighter underbelly and a dark line on the back.  This colour blends perfectly with the rocks of the habitat where it lives. The coat is very thick. Throat, chest and frontal legs have shaggy, long and smooth hair. The horns have a triangular cross section, curved first outwards, then backwards and finally inwards and reach up to 30 inches (76 cm) in length.  The horns are smooth with wrinkles at the base.  Aoudads form herds of adult males an females guided by a dominant male.  Old males and pregnant females are solitary.  Well suited to the mountain desert environment, they are extremely agile, jumping from stone to stone and climbing steep inclines. SPANISH FALLOW DEER 

SPANISH FALLOW DEER CHARACTERISTICS

The common coat colour is brown with white spots on the back and a black tip at the end of the tail.  Winter colour is darker.  There are albino colour fallow deers.  Does and fawns live in herds while males live in smaller groups.  During the rut bucks spread out forming harems and fighting furiously for its control.  Fallow deer are grazing animals and prefer habitat in mixed woodland and open grassland.  Only bucks carry antlers.  These are broad and shovel like, growing in size with age.

SPANISH REED DEER 

 SPANISH REED DEER CHARACTERISTICS


 The Spanish Red deer is one of the largest deer species. In winter its coat is rough and thick of a grey-brown colour and a darker yellowish rump patch. In summer the coat is reddish-brown.  Only stags have a thick neck and carry antlers.  They start to grow in spring and are shed at the end of winter.  Antlers grow huge with a rough surface and in case of the largest stags, the fourth or fifth tip form at the end a basket.  Red deer usually stay in same sex group for the most of the year.  During the rut, mature stags fight for the control of the harems.  Rival stags challenge opponents by belling and walking side by side.  If neither stag backs down, a crash of antlers can occur, sometimes causing serious injuries.  Only mature stags hold a harem and during that time they rarely feed, loosing up to 20% of the body weight.

WILD BOAR

 WILD BOAR CHARACTERISTICS

 Wild boar is found all over Spain.  This animal game can be taken while you are hunting on other species, but special hunts can be arranged also.  The best way to hunt it is waiting for it in its feeding areas at night, when these animals are the most active.  We have territories which due to their special characteristics boast extensive wild boar populations and therefore provide the best opportunities to obtain great trophies.  Wild boar hunting in driven hunts (10 or 15 hunters) is the most popular way of hunting on this animal among Spanish people.

 ROE DEER

 ROE DEER CHARACTERISTICS

The Roe Deer is a relatively small deer, with a body length of 3.1–4.4 ft, a shoulder height of 2.1–2.5 ft, and a weight of 33–66 lb. It has rather short, erec antlers and a reddish body with a grey face. Its hide is golden red in summer, darkening to brown or even black in winter, with lighter undersides and a white rump patch; the tail is very short 0.8–1.2 in, and barely visible. Only the males have antlers. The first and second set of antlers are unbranched and short or 2.0–4.7 in, while older bucks in good conditions develop antlers up to 8–10 in long with two or three, rarely even four, points. When the male's antlers begin to regrow, they are covered in a thin layer of velvet-like fur which disappears later on after the hair's blood supply is lost. Males may speed up the process by rubbing their antlers on trees, so that their antlers are hard and stiff for the duels during the mating season. Unlike most cervids

HUNTING GREDOS IBEX | HUNTING IBEX

One day I was looking for some information in Internet to plan my next hunting trip. Which wanted to find out in a game called IbexHuntSpain. I would contact your manager Valeriano Belles.

My idea was to go to Spain to hunt next year, but Valeriano told me that he had a Gredos license for this year. It was the last license, which was another hunter, who had been booked for this year, but he had a problem family and he couldn´t go hunting this Ibex. I only had three days of hunting possible, because my business, a very quick trip!, I made a quick flight booking plane and went to Spain.

Valeriano and his assistant were waiting for me at the airport in Madrid, the problem was that my luggage was lost with the rifle in Copenhagen, so I had to hunt with a rifle belonging to the company. We drove up to Barco de Avila, the hotel was fantastic, a beautiful place, we went to dinner at a restaurant that was at the center of town, very good red wine and ham, which made this a very good environment.

Valeriano promised me that the first day of hunting, I shoot a big Ibex Gredos.

The next morning, they picked me at the hotel and went to the hunting area where a government agent was waiting, he asked me for my passport and hunting license, so I will give them to him and he checked all, before starting the hunt Valeriano told me it was a good idea to test the rifle and the trigger, the rifle is a Remington caliber 270WSM charged Valeriano.

The hunting area was in one side of the Reserve Game Gredos, where we saw different groups Ibex but those were out of our hunting area, were in reserve, he told me that in the afternoon the ibex would come to our area to eat, because they have no food in another area, then we went to town for lunch.

Ibex hunting in spring is different from hunting in the winter, in spring the Ibex is sleeping almost all day, they are only moving when the day begins and ends.

When we finished eating we returned to the hunting area, just as we left the car, he saw a group of animals were eating in our area, Valeriano saw a large Ibex group eating and he said me: "Look! ! This is your ibex". We were approaching the group of ibex and when we were near them, about 160 meters, we saw two ibex eating into a bush, they were eating the flowers. Valeriano put the backpack on a rock and told me: "Can you see the ibex to the right? That is your Ibex when you want, you can shoot ".

After the shooting, the Ibex walked a few meters, then fell in the bushes. When we approached the body of the ibex, and I saw the animal, we realized that this was one of the fantastic, their horns were heavy and long, it was a beautiful animal, the shot was perfect, was a fantastic hunt. We taked many pictures, the ibex was a gold medal, was a fantastic trophy. We ran back to the car, that was starting to rain and was throne.

We went to dinner at the hotel and remembered the words of Valeriano: "The first day of hunting, you shot a big Ibex Gredos."

Valeriano is a very serious man.

Tortosa Beceite Spanish Ibex

Castellón is Spanish coastal province where you will find many excellent beaches, the famous rice-based cuisine and the well-known name within the tourism industry "Costa del Azahar" where many people spend quiet holidays in the sun and close to the sea. Near these beaches stands an immense mountain range parallel to our Mediterranean Sea and which stretches from Valencia to Tarragona and reaches deep in the terrain of the province of Teruel. It is so called TORTOSA Beceite area.

It is a good place to hunt the Spanish Ibex. These are the areas in the interior of the province where the landscape, generally rough and often tormented with strong slopes, hills and ravines, with the few existing farmlands, is crossed by the old abandoned terraces, what, as a hole, creates a particular landscape and a real dry-stone architecture.

There, within this framework of incommensurable nature, lives the main protagonist SPANISH IBEX. Observing the landscape we can see the groups of goats, in which one can distinguish the dominant ibex surrounded by females and by any other faithful male squire. In the privileged occasions and at the time of the rut one can hear the hoarse and the strong sound of two sharp horns colliding, that later if lucky to see two males fighting for the coveted harem.

Thus it is advisable the time of the heat between the second half of November and early January (depending on the year) when there is a lot of movement of animals as there are gathering males and females to mate and you can easily match a good goat. In the rest of the year the females tend to separate, first to give birth alone, or gathered all together watch the little kids from the previous year. When youngsters reach three or four years they tend to join a group of males that wander in solitude male group. But what every hunter tries to find in spring is a great solitary male that has not been seen in the zeal and that sooner or later will show his huge antlers from any cliff revealing its majesty. So we also suggest dates between the second fortnight of March and early May.

Thus we enter into the world full of wild animals, with no barriers, in absolute freedom and without any human control of the natural animals’ behaviour; the goats run, jump and hide in the high cliffs in every corner of the province of Castellón. They eat here and there, walk miles, change places depending on the season, the weather and they always stay here, as only here they have a big variety of edible plants and there is always enough food at any time of a year. You can always see, if you have the main virtue of a hunter - the patience, the imposing silhouette of a male with his horns challenging the sky on the edge of a ridge and demonstrating its lush power between the mountains.

Stalking as a hunting mode is great and unsurpassable because the hunter can fully enjoy according to his physical conditions, as the great variety of the areas is suitable for all types of hunters. Some of them are easily accessible and others let you to experience really tough stalk in the high mountains and where the difficulty increases little by little, not only because of the increase of height, but also because of the rugged terrain, ravines and cliffs, and thus is actually increasing the difficulty of this type of hunting; usually you have good view, which allows you an easy visual access to the piece, but then you have to work hard to make a good entry and to get the best shoot position, and sometimes it will be too difficult to succeed. You will have to take into account many common weather changes in these wonderful mountains which only nature controls and it can play some little jokes with us, sending rain, snow and wind changes that can reveal our position. These are unique and memorable moments as you can be hunting at 500 to 1400 meters height, to enjoy the wonderful landscapes, to see the sea and the Ebro River delta, eat paella, enjoy the sea breeze on one of our beaches and to sleep later in a comfortable setting surrounded by magnificent mountains. After a hard day you can enjoy a little relax at any of the placements that have the province. All the above mentioned, together with the main attraction - the great Tortosa Beceite Spanish Ibex is the principal attraction for the international hunters.

The whole area has a variety of hotels and lodgings of the high quality and comfort making them ideal for anyone.
